Data-driven policymaking are great buzzwords, but what does that mean in practice? We will review case studies that use publicly available data to influence policy and rally advocates around a cause. Drawing from examples in criminal justice reform, environmental advocacy, and early childhood education, we'll examine three key areas:

1. How open data has become an important part of data-driven government.
2. How data-fluent community members can partner with government and non-profits to assist with analysis and communication.
3. How data visualizations and marketing campaigns can work together to influence popular opinion.
